This Privacy Policy explains how The System, a Garmin Connect IQ application (the “App”), handles information when you use it. The App is designed to perform its progression, workout, quest, and status calculations on your Garmin device.
Information the App Uses
Depending on the Garmin device and the permissions you grant, the App may access information made available by Garmin Connect IQ, including:
- Garmin profile information such as age-related profile data, height, weight, and activity class;
- fitness and wellness information such as steps, active minutes, heart-rate-related data, Body Battery, stress, recovery information, and configured sleep/wake times where available;
- GPS/location data while a supported outdoor activity is being recorded;
- activity information such as elapsed time, distance, pace, and ascent;
- information you enter or generate in the App, such as completed repetitions, workout completion, reading/writing time, arts-practice time, XP, levels, abilities, skills, quests, streaks, and dungeon progress.
How Information Is Used
The App uses this information to provide its core features, including activity tracking, System Workouts, daily quests, ability and level progression, HP/MP/fatigue calculations, skills, dungeons, streaks, and the Penalty Zone.
Local Storage
The App stores progression and usage state locally using Garmin Connect IQ application storage. This may include items such as level, XP, abilities, quest state, streaks, workout progress, skill progress, dungeon completion, and accumulated activity time.
This locally stored App data generally remains on the device until it is overwritten, cleared, or the App is removed, subject to Garmin device and Connect IQ behavior.
Data Transmission to the Developer
The App does not operate a developer-controlled server, does not require a developer account, and does not send your Garmin health, fitness, location, or progression data to the developer. The developer does not receive or maintain a database of individual users’ App data.
Garmin Activity Records and Garmin Services
When you record supported activities through the App, the App may create an activity record using Garmin’s on-device Connect IQ/FIT functionality. Depending on your Garmin settings and services, Garmin may store or synchronize those activity records with Garmin Connect.
Data processed or synchronized by Garmin is governed by Garmin’s own terms, privacy policies, account settings, and device/service configuration. The developer of The System does not receive that Garmin account data merely because you use this App.
Payments
If you purchase the App through the Connect IQ Store, payment, transaction, tax, refund, and account information is processed by Garmin and/or Garmin’s authorized payment providers. The App developer does not receive your full payment-card information.
Sharing and Sale of Personal Information
The developer does not sell your personal information and does not share App-derived personal information with advertisers or data brokers. The App does not include developer-operated advertising or analytics services.
Data Retention and Deletion
Because the developer does not receive or maintain your App data on a developer-controlled server, there is no developer-hosted user account or cloud profile to delete. You can remove the App’s locally stored data by removing the App or by using Garmin-provided device/app data controls where available.
Activity records synchronized to Garmin services are controlled through your Garmin account and Garmin’s own data-management tools.
Security
The App is designed to minimize privacy risk by keeping its own progression data on-device and avoiding a developer-operated backend. No method of electronic storage is guaranteed to be completely secure, and Garmin device and platform security are also governed by Garmin.
Children’s Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information on a developer-controlled server from children or adults. If the App is used by a minor, Garmin account and device use remain subject to Garmin’s applicable terms, settings, and parental requirements.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the App’s functionality, data handling, or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
